By using Snap Eat, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Who We Are

Snap Eat is an iOS application that uses artificial intelligence to estimate the calories, macronutrients, and ingredients in your food based on photos you take. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how your information is handled.

The data controller responsible for your information is:

Snap Eat: AI Calorie Counter
Owner: KIM THIEN VU NGUYEN

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Photos of meals, food, and drinks. When you use the core feature of the App, you submit photos. These are the central piece of content the Service processes.
  • Account information. When you create an account, we may collect your name, email address, and authentication identifiers. If you sign in using Sign in with Apple, we receive the information Apple shares with us, which may be limited to a private relay email if you choose.
  • Health and nutrition information you enter. This may include dietary goals, target calories or macros, weight, height, age, activity level, food preferences, and meal logs. You choose what to provide.
  • Communications. If you contact us for support, we collect the contents of your message and your contact details.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data. How you interact with the App, including features used, screens viewed, logging frequency, and session timing.
  • Device information. Device model, operating system version, language settings, and general diagnostic data.
  • Approximate location. We do not collect precise GPS location. We may infer general region from your device or network settings for legal and analytics purposes.

2.3 Permissions We Request

  • Camera. To take photos of your meals.
  • Photo library. To let you select existing photos to analyze.
  • Notifications. To send you reminders, daily messages, and personalized updates. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

We only request permissions needed for the features you use, and you can decline or revoke them in your device settings, though some features may not work without them.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide the core Service, including analyzing your meal photos and estimating calories, macronutrients, and ingredients.
  • Personalize your experience, including the messages, notifications, and content the App shows you.
  • Maintain your account, meal history, and progress over time.
  • Send you notifications and daily messages, where you have enabled them.
  • Process subscriptions and manage access to paid features.
  • Improve the accuracy and quality of the Service.

4. How Your Photos Are Processed by AI

When you submit a photo, it is sent to our servers and to one or more third party artificial intelligence providers that analyze the image to identify food items and estimate nutrition. These providers process the photo solely to return a result to the App.

  • We use AI providers such as Google and OpenAI under agreements that restrict how they may use the data you submit.
  • To the extent technically possible, we configure these providers so that your photos are not used to train their models.
  • Calorie and macro estimates are produced by AI and are approximate. They are not medical or dietary advice. See our Terms of Use for the full disclaimer.

Photo retention. Photos you log are stored in your account history so you can review past meals. You can delete any photo at any time, which removes it from our active systems.

5. Third Party Services

We rely on trusted third parties to operate the Service, including:

  • Cloud hosting and database providers for storing your account data and meal history.
  • AI providers for photo analysis, as described above.
  • Apple for App distribution, Sign in with Apple, and subscription processing through the App Store.
  • Analytics providers to understand how the App is used and improve it.

Each provider processes data under its own privacy terms and our agreements with them. We share only what is necessary for them to perform their function.

6. How We Share Information

We share personal information only in these circumstances:

  • With service providers who perform functions on our behalf, as described in Section 5.
  • For legal reasons, if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Snap Eat, our users, or others.
  • In a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your information.
  • With your consent, for any other purpose disclosed at the time you provide it.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.

7. Data Retention
